Le Marche is not widely known as a major ski destination compared to other regions in Italy, such as the Alps and Dolomites. However, it does offer seven main ski resorts spread along the Apennine mountains ranging from 1,236 to 2000 metres in altitude and containing a total of 27 ski lifts and 80 km of slopes. Sassotetto is easily accessible from the small town of Sarnano in the Sibillini mountains. It is the ideal resort for beginners, but also offers more challenging pistes and even off-piste opportunities. You can buy your ski pass (at 15 euros per day per adult) and hire all the necessary equipment here, and there are 10 ski lifts. There are two good restaurants in Sassotetto, and other facilities below the snowline, if you choose to make a weekend of it. There is a bus service from Sarnano up to the resort. It is the ideal resort for beginners, but also offers more challenging pistes and even off-piste opportunities. You can buy your ski pass (at 15 euros per day per adult) and hire all the necessary equipment here, and there are 10 ski lifts.
